Overview

The 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Road and Time Trial Cycling is ideal for learners interested in taking responsibility for the ongoing development of participants and the growth of the sport locally, regionally, or nationally.

This qualification will improve the learner’s knowledge of the principles and practice of safe, ethical, and effective management and coaching of road and time trial cycling programmes, working with individual riders.

It also offers the opportunity for learners to support the development of the sport by contributing to coaching in road and time trial cycling facilities and clubs.

This qualification is recognised as the industry standard Level 3 qualification for road and time trial cycling by British Cycling, the national governing body for cycling in the UK.

Qualification Progression

Coaches holding this qualification are encouraged to obtain a British Cycling coaching licence.

This qualification is the minimum required to seek employment as a coach prescribing training programmes to individual road and time trial riders. Holders of this Certificate may seek employment, paid or unpaid, as a road and time trial cycling coach. Key employment opportunities for British Cycling licensed coaches include: Coaching individuals or at clubs; National governing body initiatives and coaching activity schemes.
