Overview
The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (Sport and Physical Activity) will give you the knowledge and skills to plan, deliver and review a series of linked and progressive sport and physical activity coaching sessions, either working independently (if you are over 18) or as part of a coaching team.
You will learn:
- how to ensure participants’ safety during sport-specific coaching sessions
- how to prepare resources for coaching sessions that meet the requirements of the activity.
The qualification could lead to paid or voluntary roles in coaching sport and physical activity, or to a position as a coach within a holiday play scheme or a sports club environment. If you are under 18, the roles available to you would be within a coaching team.
It is recognised as the industry standard Level 2 qualification for coaches by UK Coaching. It is aligned to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity professional standard for Coach.
Qualification Progression
Learners could progress on to the 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Coaching (Sport and Physical Activity) or on to a sport-specific coaching qualification at level 2. The skills and knowledge developed through this qualification may also be used to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching sport, activity leadership, supporting PE in school sport or sports development.
This qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles in coaching sport and physical activity, working as a coach possibly within a holiday play scheme or a sports club environment.
