Overview
The 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Assistant (Wrestling) is ideal for learners interested in assisting the delivery of wrestling coaching sessions. Depending on ability and confidence, it is an entry point to coaching.
They will learn how to assist in sessions under the guidance and supervisory framework of a more qualified coach or appropriate governing organisation, ensuring that they have the appropriate support to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding.
They will also learn about the practical and theoretical aspects of delivering and evaluating coaching activities in wrestling.
This qualification is recognised as the industry standard Level 1 qualification for assistant wrestling coaches by UK Coaching and is aligned to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity professional standard for Coaching Assistant. It is supported by the British Wrestling Association.
Qualification Progression
Learners could progress on to the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (Wrestling) or on to another sport-specific coaching qualification at level 1 or at level 2. The skills and knowledge developed through this qualification may also be used to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching sport, activity leadership or sports development.
This qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles in wrestling, working as a coaching assistant under the appropriate supervision of a more qualified coach. Other roles that the learner may consider exploring include Activity Leader, Official and Sports Volunteer.
