About the Author:

Eileen Marchant is an experienced PE Teacher and worked as a School Improvement Officer in Kirklees LEA for 12 years. She was responsible for strategic planning and management of PE in Kirklees across all phases from early years to post 16 and was also an Advanced Trainer for CPD with wide experience of delivering keynotes, courses and consultancies nationally, regionally and locally. An OfSTED team inspector, she inspected PE for over 10 years and in more than 50 schools across the country. Eileen is a member of the Professional Development Board (PDB) for PE and a member of the group that produced the Professional Development Record (PDR). She was baalpe President from 2002-2003 and was General Secretary of baalpe from 2004 to 2006.

The Association for Physical Education (afPE) is a subject association devoted to maintaining high standards and safe practice in all aspects and at all levels of physical education and school sport and, uniquely, is a licensed provider for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the subject. The new association was launched in March 2006 (both baalpe and PEA UK dissolved in order to form afPE) and provides quality-assured membership services, employment support and resources.
