Overview:
This celebratory edition of the Bulletin of Physical Education marks the closure of the British Association of Advisors and Lecturers in Physical Education (baalpe) as it joins PEA UK and steps into the new Association for Physical Education (afPE).
Santayana’s dictum ‘Those who do not remember the past are destined to repeat it’ is most applicable at this landmark time in physical education. This Bulletin outlines a history of baalpe, identifies key people, charts major initiatives and developments, celebrates leading edge practice and shares memories as well as identifying milestones in physical education.
Contents include incisive papers by Gerald Griggs (on swimming in primary schools) and Peter Brennan (on partnerships for improvement), a humorous anecdotal tale from Glen Beaumont, an RNIB book review and general baalpe information and updates. This special celebration issue also pulls together a selection of some of the most popular articles from previous Bulletins throughout its 70-year publication history. The papers give a fascinating insight into the motives and changes in physical education across the lifetime of baalpe. | Contents:- Part One – The Bulletin
